Bird Removal

Seasonal Alert: Low Activity

Birds are quieter in summer, but that doesn’t mean they’re no longer around. Most birds molt in the summer because it helps them stay cool and prepares them for the autumn migration. When birds molt, they become especially vulnerable, as they cannot fly as efficiently; they hide and rest during the hottest part of the day and seek food in the morning and evening. If you encounter a problem with birds, please contact Capital Wildlife Control for immediate assistance. We are the wildlife control experts in the Ottawa-Gatineau region and birds removal is our specialty.

Bird Control Service

What Can We Do For You?

When a bird enters your house or when you have a bird in vent, the situation can quickly become catastrophic. Pigeons, sparrows and starlings may lay their nests in your home, leaving feces that present serious risks for health, without mentioning people’s frustration when they are obligated to share their house with a bunch of unwanted winged tenants.

EVALUATE
AND REMOVE
Warm nesting sites like fireplaces, attics and air vents are a first choice target for birds. Capital Wildlife Control’s technicians have been specially trained to identify bird entrance points and recognize their reproduction cycle. Ensuring a humane and affordable bird removal process, our technicians will remove all the birds and the nests without disturbing fledging. For the youngest fledging, the technician will put a protective box next to the old nest so that the adults can continue to feed them until they start to fly.
CLEAR
AND CLEAN
Capital Wildlife Control’s elimination bird removal strategy is safe, humane and reliable. Our intervention includes identification and cleaning of all the contaminated materials and possible odors from carcasses that can present health risks. It is an important step, because inhaling particles coming from birds can cause an incurable disease called histoplasmosis. Our wildlife technician will advise you on the best cleaning techniques, explain to you how to fix insulation materials, and how to inspect the ventilation system depending on the level of the contamination. These steps will help you and your family to get back to your safe and enjoyable home.
SOME FACTS
ON BIRDS

Sparrows, starlings and pigeons are the most common bird species interacting with human dwellings. Their nests and their feces can cause serious odors, big damages, and health risks.

  • Pigeons, sparrows and starlings don’t build careful nests. They have a tendency to be messy and can spread across many feet in ventilation ducts or fireplaces. This can cause serious fire risks. Birds can nest pretty much anywhere that provides shelter, including roofs and facade air vents, fireplaces and under the roof.
  • Bird feces are acid and deteriorate painted surfaces. They can cause permanent damages to construction materials and to parked cars.
  • Fireplaces and air vent nests can block the correct evacuation of carbon monoxide and humidity. This can cause the accumulation of carbon monoxide and mold, which are both really dangerous. Visual signs of bird entrance points include broken air vents, bird feces and twig or leaves dirtying the facade.
  • The most vulnerable people, the young, elderly or people with a weak immune system have the highest chances of getting histoplasmosis. Acarid, ticks and fleas can usually be found in bird nests. Inhaling bird’s faces can cause an incurable disease, the histoplasmosis, characterized by symptoms similar to the flu.
  • Sparrows and starlings generally lay between 6 and 7 eggs two times a year. Pigeons can lay 2 to 4 eggs all year long. Generally one or two fledging won’t live up to adulthood.
  • Sparrows can go through a hole as big as a golf ball.
  • The best method to get rid of birds is to move all of the birds and the nests and then seal all the possible entrance points.
  • Bacteria and parasites found in nests and fledging carcasses can cause bad odors and create a risk for health..
